South Asian Savate championship, new step of Savate development in Asia

The first south Asian Savate (French Boxing) Championship was successfully conducted from January 20th to 22nd 2024, at the Sports Complex in Chandigarh, India under supervision of Asian savate confederation (ASC) and organized by India Savate association.

With participation from over 150 male and female athletes representing South Asian countries, in both assaut and combat events, the competition showcased the prowess of the region.

The Indian Savate team, led by coach Rahul Srivastava and Santoshi Sharma, paraded in "Kargil War Hero" martyr Captain Sumeet Roy VRC tracksuits.

Mr.ShukhraK hodjaev, the General Secretary of the Asian Savate Confederation from Uzbekistan, attended as an representative of dr.HamidReza Hesaraki ASC president, moreover Ms Sukhwinder Singh Binjarawat, the founder of Savate Association India, welcomed Khodjaev Shukhrat and proposed organizing the 6th Asian Savate Championship in India in 2025.

India emerged as the champion, with Nepal securing the runner-up position. The inaugural ceremony had Singer Meet Rangrez, the brand ambassador of Swachh Bharat Mission Chandigarh, as the chief guest.

Other dignitaries included Mr.Laxman Basnet (Nepal Savate Federation President), Hansraj Namsaut (National Savate Association of India, President), Pradeep Mehta (International player), Bhuvan Mehta (Officer, Punjab National Bank Chandigarh), Krishna Barupal (Rajasthan Savate President), Mukhtyar Singh Rania (Chairman), and Rajesh Khereka (Block Committee Member Sirsa).

During the closing ceremony, international weightlifter Ishwar Singh Lalka, retired CID Haryana Jangir Singh Vertia, SDO Satnam Singh Kharar, and businessman Adv. Maninder Singh Mohali honored the winning players with medals and certificates.

Advocate Navjot Barjot, Savate India technical director and International Coach Commission Member FISav, commended judges and referees Debajyoti Mukherjee, Nitin Tomar, Jagtar Singh Bhati, Dharamveer Dhagi, Shammi Arora, and Jasmine.

They were presented with award certificates of honor. Tournament Director Rahul Srivastava expressed gratitude to all the guests.
