Nepal Savate national team became the team champion in the 7th Asian Savate Championship held in Kathmandu university Dhulikhel, Nepal.
Nepal won the most medals, including 31 gold, 20 silver and 30 bronze in the final day of the 7th Asian Savate championship 2026 organized by the Nepal Savate Association from April 16th to 20th with the technical and official support of the International Savate Federation (FISav) and the Asian Savate Confederation (ASC), Nepal Savate Association President Mr. Laxman Basnet said.

Similarly, India won the second place with 18 gold, 27 silver and 22 bronze medals, while Indonesia finished with the third place, while Uzbekistan got the disciplined team trophy.
Nepal's Amrita Tamang won the fair play award of the championship, while Uzbekistan's Mashrapov Omidillol was declared the best player in the men's category and India's Watanpai was declared the best player in the women's category. Similarly, president Basnet informed that 58-year-old Barney Vackey and 54-year-old Francis Vesetulu of New Zealand received the Veteran Excellence Award for the Himalayan International Open Savate Championship.

National Sports Council Member Secretary Ram Charitra Mehta, honorary President of the International Savate Federation, official representative and chair of competition commission of FISav Mr. Gilles LE DUIGOU, who came from France, inaugurated the competition, while Nepal Savate Federation president Mr. Laxman Basnet gave the welcome remarks. About 300 players from 9 different countries in Asia participated in the competition, but the organizers said that players from Thailand, Iran, Bangladesh and Japan could not come due to various reasons at the last minute.

In the last day of the competition, Sunday night, former Asst. Minister Biraj Bahadur Bista,, honorary President of the International Savate Federation and chair of competition commission of FISav Mr. Gilles LE DUIGOU, President of the Nepal Savate Federation Mr. Laxman Basnet, General Secretary of the Nepal Savate Federation Mr. Siddhi Byanjankar, and other official representatives presented medals, trophies and certificates to the winning players.

At the closing ceremony, Mr.Gilles LU DUIGOU said that Nepal has successfully organized the competition, earning the trust of all participating countries and has sent a message to the world that Nepal is capable of organizing other world-class competitions in the future. Similarly, Nepal Savate Association President Mr. Laxman Basnet thanked all the participating players for their excellent sportsmanship and all those who helped in completing the competition.

Mr.Basnet also informed that Indonesia has proposed to be host the 8th Asian savate Championship 2027.
